Stephanie Koenig, LMSW
Clinical Social Worker
Over the past 10 years, I have worked alongside people of all ages and their families as they fight through some of, if not the most, daunting challenges they will ever face.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Women's Studies from Hope College, I completed my Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Michigan. I have experience navigating mental health recovery with people across the lifespan in multiple levels of care, including inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and emergency room settings using individual, family, and group therapy.
I have significant training and experience treating eating disorders as well as anxiety disorders, OCD, suicidality, self-harm, and mood disorders such as depression using evidence-based treatment including cognitive-behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy. My primary focus and passion as a therapist is working with children, adolescents, and young adults and their families who are struggling with eating disorders utilizing Family Based Treatment (also known as the Maudsley approach). I firmly believe that everyone can not just physically recover from an eating disorder but can fully mentally recover too and will hold hope for you along the way when this feels impossible.
When I am not providing therapy, I coach and perform as an aerialist and am eager to help others, especially those recovering from eating disorders, find joy in moving their bodies and appreciate their body for what it can do regardless of size instead of believing that they have to "work out" to maintain or change their body. I am also passionate about the idea of intuitive eating being more than "eat when you are hungry, stop when you are full" and including the social, emotional, and pleasurable aspects of eating as well.
The thought of recovery often feels overwhelming, hopeless, and terrifying, especially in the beginning. This is not a battle you have to fight alone and I look forward to joining you on your path to recovery! "I'm not telling you it's going to be easy, I'm telling you it's going to be worth it." - Art Williams
Transforming mental healthcare
We are a group of doctoral-level psychologists and psychiatrists who provide quality mental health care. As a mental health collective, we assist members by providing therapy, medication management, coaching, and more. We help our clients connect with one of our doctors who can meet their needs and is available online or in-person.
A modern approach
It’s essential for us that our clients get personalized suggestions on who from our team is the best match. Rather than do things the typical way, we’ve created a system designed around our patients’ needs.
